DepEd eyes reforms after PH ranks 74th in education readiness

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) said Tuesday it is stepping up reforms in basic education as the Philippines ranked 74th out of 177 countries in the Global Education Futures Readiness Index (GEFRI) 2025. The Philippines garnered a GEFRI score of 56.32 out of 100 — the fifth lowest among Southeast Asian countries.
