Kelly Ripa Says Mark Consuelos ‘Shamed’ Her for ‘Disgusting’ Bedroom Habit: ‘The Rules in Bed Changed’

Kelly Ripa called out husband Mark Consuelos for shaming one of her bedroom habits during an episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, and viewers were hollering!

Kelly, 54, and Mark, 53, discussed a report that said eating cheese prevents sleep apnea during an episode of the show on January 31. She suggested they should incorporate eating cheese before bed into their nightly routine, while Mark said that they should put “two little things of cheese on either side of the bed.” But Kelly seemed pretty shocked by her husband’s suggestion.

The Emmy winner was quick to point out that Mark has criticized her in the past for eating in the bed in their New York City home. The look on his face was that of utter confusion.

“Because that’s eating in the bed,” Kelly said. “We have, [for] many years, one of us shamed the other one of us for eating in the bed.”

Mark didn’t recall shaming Kelly for eating in the bed, asking, “When?” to which Kelly responded, “For the first 28 years of our marriage.”

The audience was laughing, and a producer behind the camera could be heard laughing at the confession as well. But still, the Riverdale actor seemed confused about when exactly he “shamed” Kelly for eating in bed.

“What would you eat in bed?” Mark asked his wife.

Kelly responded, “Everything. And you’re like, ‘That’s disgusting. Eating in bed is disgusting.’ And then you took up eating the peanut butter and the jellies in the bed and then it was fine to eat in bed.”

“Are you sure that was me?” Mark asked Kelly, which sent the audience into a fit of laughter yet again.

She assured him that he was the one who critiqued her habit of eating in the bedroom. But she pointed out once again that Mark also got into the habit of eating in bed by a certain point, making it hypocritical of him to criticize her about it.

The All My Children actress, who shares kids Michael, Lola and Joaquin with Mark, said that Mark started eating in the bed after shooting Riverdale in Vancouver, Canada, for a period of time.

“And he lived there for a long time. So the rules in the bed changed,” Kelly explained. “For me, I started allowing the dogs to sleep in bed.”

“You took my side of the bed, too,” Mark said.

“Correct. And then you started, I believe, eating in your own bed in Vancouver, and you came home and brought that habit home with you,” Kelly confirmed.

This type of banter is pretty typical for Kelly and Mark, who have been going strong since they wed in 1996. During the Monday, February 3, episode of the show, Kelly and Mark discussed a study that said, “17 percent of married readers typically picture their spouse when imagining the love interest in a novel,” while other readers “have envisioned their celebrity crush.”

Kelly said that Mark was her celebrity crush. “But you’re also my husband, so I feel robbed of a true celebrity crush,” she joked.

“It’s like having your birthday on Christmas,” Mark quipped.

“Correct. Same. Same, but different,” Kelly concluded.
