A HISTORIC pub is due to reopen this week with four brand new experiences, in a huge boost to locals.
Clancy’s bar is undergoing a €500,000 makeover after partnering with Guinness owner Diageo.

It is one of the best known pubs in Cork city centre, and its reopening this Friday, July 11, is set to make locals very happy.
The pub, which is located on Princes Street is owned by Paul Montgomery, and has been in business for over 200 years.
Opened in 1824, the property is set to close this week ahead of the revamp, which will see a range of changes including a new Guinness-themed bar.
The bar will have a new look, along with new experiences for punters.
Arthur’s Bar @ Clancy’s is described as an “immersive Guinness experience” and will offer merchandise for the black stuff.
This will be an immersive experience showcasing the art, science, story, and taste of the perfect pint.
The two-hour experience will show punters how to craft the perfect pint and give them a chance to learn the history behind the popular beverage.
You can also put your face on a pint with the “Stoutie” Selfie Machines, and enjoy a guided tasting of Guinness foreign extra stout, Guinness stout and Guinness extra (Original Recipe).
After learning the technique to pour the perfect pint, you can enjoy it with food pairings including two fresh local oysters and two pigs in blankets for pre-booked groups.
There will be interactive audio and visual experiences, along with authentic Guinness memorabilia.
The new premises will also include a restaurant, a cocktail lab and a rooftop party bar.
Upstairs, 1824 @ Clancy’s will offer a brand new dining experience offering contemporary Irish food.
The restaurant will be run under head chef Mark Nevin, who hails from West Cork.
The bar will also serve breakfast and lunch every day of the week.
On the ground floor there will be a new cocktail bar offering premium drinks.
Or, if you’re looking for a party vibe, the Sky Bar on the top level is the perfect place for an open-air rooftop party.
Montgomery has been a renowned figure in the city’s pub and entertainment scene for over 30 years.
And the revamped pub will generate 15 new jobs.
‘SOMETHING TRULY SPECIAL’
He announced Dave Daly as the group general manager, while well-known restaurateur Shane Spillane will come on as head of food and beverage.
Montgomery said: “This is more than a refurbishment — it’s a reimagining to bring us into the future.
“We’re proud of Clancy’s 200-year history, and we’re building on that legacy with something truly special.
“Cork’s food and beverage scene is growing more ambitious, and we want to be right at the heart of it.”
