THOUSANDS of Irish travellers are set to benefit from a major new change to Aer Lingus flights.
The Irish airline has just announced that they will partner with SignLive to offer a video relay service for customers.

The new system is set to enhance accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing customers.
The new SignLive service can be accessed through the airline’s website or app.
It will allow customers who use Irish or British sign language to contact customer service through the video relay.
From there, customers will be put through to a qualified interpreter.
The interpreter can then translate the conversation between customer care and the passenger.
The service can be scheduled by request but is only available at certain times.
It will operate Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
The new service could help thousands of people, as roughly five per cent of the population struggle with their hearing.
In the 2022 census, some 233,420 people reported being hard of hearing.
Aer Lingus said customers should download the app from the App Store or from Google Play to use the service.
They can also access it and set up an account by visiting the SignLive website.
Aer Lingus said: “This partnership reflects Aer Lingus’ ongoing commitment to inclusivity and providing accessible customer assistance to all customers.”
Bosses said the new system will give people more options for engaging with customer service.
Chief Customer Officer, Susanne Carberry said: “SignLive is an important new assistance tool that underpins Aer Lingus’ commitment to improving accessibility and inclusivity for all our customers.
“The introduction of SignLive ensures that our customers who use Irish Sign Language and British Sign Language have more options when seeking assistance.
“This is the latest step we’re taking to ensure that all customers can engage with our customer care team and access the support they need.”
And experts at SignLive said the move will “empower deaf travellers”.
SignLive UK General Manager, Steph Lotz said: “I am proud to see Aer Lingus partner with SignLive to offer remote BSL and ISL interpreting.
“This bold step reinforces our commitment to breaking down barriers and creating truly inclusive travel experiences.
“Together, let’s transform lives through conversations, empowering deaf travellers to explore the world with confidence and ease.”
