United Nations World Food Programme warns only two weeks of food reserves remain raising fears of famine if conditions don’t improve swiftly. Despite global calls for peace Netanyahu-led forces show no signs of halting aggression.

On Thursday, fresh Israeli strikes claimed at least 40 lives across Gaza. While Muslim communities worldwide prepare for Eid, bullets and bombs shatter lives in the enclave. Central Gaza’s bustling market saw several Palestinians killed in an airstrike, with many trapped under rubble. Casualties mount as Israeli warplanes target one area after another.

Among victims was Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif Al-Qanoua, killed in a predawn bombing of his tent in northern Gaza. Al-Aqsa Television and Shehab News Agency confirmed the strike. Hamas, a Palestinian resistance group lost a key voice amid escalating conflict.

Israel’s unyielding assault draws sharp criticism. UNRWA chief expresses alarm, noting Gaza hasn’t endured such prolonged deprivation of food and medical aid since war began. Over a million people face starvation, with supplies blocked for weeks.

In the US, Senator Bernie Sanders pushes to halt arms sales to Israel. In a statement on X, he accuses Netanyahu of flouting international and American laws urging an end to US involvement in this “brutality.” Sanders plans two Senate resolutions to stop weapons support, spotlighting Gaza’s worsening plight.

Meanwhile, protests erupt in Massachusetts’ Somerville over detention of Rumeysa Ozturk, a Turkish doctoral student at Tufts University. Arrested Tuesday while heading to iftar with friends, Ozturk faced handcuffs from masked figures. Authorities canceled her visa, alleging Hamas support tied to her pro-Palestinian stance.

Over 100 demonstrators condemned the Trump administration’s move as “fascist,” decrying curbs on free speech. Ozturk’s lawyer, Masha Khan Babai, filed a court petition, while Democratic lawmakers voiced outrage.

Last year, Ozturk co-authored a Tufts Daily piece criticizing university ties to Israeli entities and demanding recognition of Palestinian “genocide.” Her arrest a year later fuels claims of retaliation. Protesters demand peace, chanting for bombings to cease and Ozturk’s release.

As Gaza burns global outcry grows louder. Yet, Israeli forces press on, deepening a crisis threatening countless lives.
