Jota, 28, had lined up alongside Cancelo and Neves numerous times on international duty for Portugal.

Cancelo had played 32 games alongside the much-loved attacker.

Meanwhile, Neves had played alongside him 164 times across the last decade at both Porto and Wolves as well as various levels in their national team.

The pair joined their team-mates in paying tribute to Jota before the Club World Cup quarter-final.

As the minutes silence was observed for Jota and 25-year-old Silva, the pair were brought to tears.

Fluminense players and coaches joined in the silence and were also seen wearing black armbands in tribute.

The football world has been united in grief following the tragedy.

Only 11 days prior, Jota had gotten married to his long-term partner, Rute Cardoso, with the couple having three children.

Tributes from Prince William and Cristiano Ronaldo were among the thousands who paid their respects.

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was at Anfield today to lay a wreath to mourn the loss of the football champion.

The Reds’ current skipper Virgil van Dijk said: “What a human being, what a player, but most importantly what an unbelievable family man.

“My heart is breaking for your beautiful family, for Rute and for your kids. I promise you that in these difficult times and beyond we will always be there for your family.

“A champion forever, number 20 forever. It’s been a privilege to have stood by your side on the pitch, and to have been your friend off it.”

Liverpool also announced they would “immortalise” his No20 shirt number.

A wake was held today to honour the passing of the brothers.

The funerals will be held in their home town of Gondomar near the Portuguese city of Porto at 10am on Saturday.
