Both the Gunners and Barca were interested in acquiring his services this summer.

But their pursuits of the 22-year-old has failed as he’s inked a new TEN-YEAR deal which has seen his release clause DOUBLE.

A snippet of a club statement read: “Nico Williams extends his contract with Athletic Club until 2035.

“The Atletico winger is tied to his beloved club for the next ten seasons.

“And his buyout clause has increased by more than 50% compared to the previous one.

“Athletic Club and Nico Williams have reached an agreement to extend his contract, which ended in 2027, for eight seasons, until June 30, 2035.

“His buyout clause has increased by more than 50% compared to the previous one.”

An ecstatic Williams said: “When it comes to making decisions, for me, what weighs most is the heart.

“I’m where I want to be, with my family, this is my home. Go Athletic!”
