The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is inviting South African students to apply for its Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

About the NFVF Bursary Programme 2026
The NFVF Bursary Programme supports Undergraduate and Postgraduate students pursuing National Diploma or Degree studies within Film and Television-related fields (excluding performing arts, acting, music, dancing, or other unrelated programmes).
The initiative aims to develop industry-relevant skills and grow talent in the South African film and television sector.
What the NFVF Bursary Covers
The NFVF Bursary covers:
- Full tuition fees
- Up to R50 000 for first-year students, which includes:
- Meals
- Accommodation
- Study resources (textbooks, computer, software)
Note: Travel expenses and outstanding debt are not covered.
Applicants must provide proforma invoices and supporting documents before payments are processed.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the NFVF Bursary 2026, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Have completed Matric
- Be pursuing full-time undergraduate or postgraduate film/TV studies
- Be registered or provisionally accepted at an accredited South African tertiary institution
- Have an academic average of at least 60% (if currently studying)
- Demonstrate financial need, with a combined household income below R600 000 per year
- Preferably study at a public tertiary institution
Required Documents
Applicants must upload certified copies (not older than 6 months) of the following documents:
- ID document
- Matric certificate
- Latest academic results or transcript
- Proof of tertiary acceptance or acknowledgment
- Breakdown of annual tuition fees
- Motivational letter (1 page): Why you want to work in the film industry
- Proof of household income (bank statements, payslips, affidavits, etc.)
- Proof of any additional bursaries (if applicable)
