‘Unapologetically myself’, declares Donal Skehan in defiant stance against trolls as RTE pal says ‘don’t ever change’

RTE star Donal Skehan has said he “flew under the radar” on a celebrity gossip website as there was no thread about him.

The Irish chef is one of the few Irish celebrities to dodge backlash from trolls on the online forum Tattle Life.

Tattle Life is a gossip website where users could anonymously create threads to discuss and criticize public figures, often celebrities and social media influencers.

Donal‘s best pal and podcast co-host, Arthur Gourounlian, has suffered immense hate from trolls on the website, with his home address even being leaked to the public.

On a recent episode of their podcast, Donal discussed how he got off lightly when it came to being trolled on forum.

The 38-year-old said: “I fly under the radar on Tattle, I don’t even have a thread.”

The dad-of-two laughed: “But Jesus Christ, recently, I don’t know what it is, since I’ve been hanging out with you [Arthur].

“I keep getting these comments going, ‘I think Arthur may have styled you for this’, or, ‘I think Arthur influenced you on this one.”

“But look, I don’t help myself, I sing Love Is In The Air and do karaoke at Bloom.”

The TV star was referring to a viral video that was captured of him singing and dancing with a crowd at Bloom Festival in Dublin.

The footage gained a large quantity of hateful comments at the time.

Responding to Donal’s story, Arthur kindly replied: “But don’t ever change because that is just you. Life is about having fun and not being judged by anyone.”

Donal responded: “That is true and one of the things I always say back to people if they give me cr*p is, ‘I’m unapologetically myself, I am unique.’

“I am who I am, and if someone has a problem with that, that’s their problem.

‘HORRIBLE’

“If you know who you are and you are proud of what you do then there should be no comment. And even if there is a comment it should be something that just washes over you.”

Donal had empathy for Arthur, who had a more intense level of online trolling.

But, the star noted that he had a “horrible” article written about him and his wife when his first son Noah was born.

He said: “The article said we were, ‘new parent braggarts’ and it was awful, it really hurt. And it was at a time when you’re already so sensitive and all we were doing was sharing the positive side of the whole experience.

“Every new parent is so excited and I was so heartbroken about it.”
