South African-born Hollywood star Charlize Theron has revealed why she has never walked down the aisle.
Speaking candidly on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy, Theron shared her true feelings about marriage and long-term commitment.
CHARLIZE THERON’S VIEWS ABOUT MARRIAGE
The Oscar-winning actress, who grew up in Benoni, Gauteng, spoke openly about her personal life.
She told host Alex Cooper, “Let me just be clear. Marriage is a long-term commitment, and I think I want a long-term commitment. I don’t need to get married.” She added, “So I just want to clarify that.”
Theron, now 49, is a proud single mother to two daughters, Jackson, 12, and August, 9. She explained that her reluctance to marry comes from a deep-seated fear, according to Geo News.
“I will tell you in all honesty and the work that I’ve done on myself. Charlize Theron admitted, “I think a lot of that comes from my tremendous fear of not being able to get out of something.”
“That’s, again, me just understanding me, right?”
LAWS ON MARRIAGE
The Mad Max: Fury Road star also joked about the legal realities of long-term relationships in California.
“Obviously, by California laws, after seven years, you’re in a marriage, whether you walk down the aisle, sign a piece of paper, it’s 50-50, bru. Let’s just be clear,” she said.
“My semantics is crazy, but if I were to find a relationship, I would think of it as something that I’m aiming for long term.”
FOLLOWING HER PATH
Theron’s honesty resonates with many who value commitment but may not see marriage as a necessity.
Her words highlight a modern approach to relationships, one that focuses on genuine connection rather than legal contracts.
Charlize Theron remains an inspiration to many, both at home in South Africa and abroad. Her openness about her fears and choices encourages others to follow their paths, whatever they may be.
