A group of terrified schoolgirls were left stranded in the rain after a furious taxi driver booted them out of his cab, demanded double payment, and then sped off without so much as an apology.

The shocking incident unfolded on Tuesday, July 1, when six students from a well-known girls’ school in Nonthaburi climbed into a green taxi to celebrate a birthday. But their evening quickly turned into a nightmare.

The girls, all aged between 14 and 15, had hired the cab to take them to Prachachuen 36 for dinner. As the driver approached The Mall Ngamwongwan, heavy rain began to fall and traffic ground to a halt. It was then that the driver, described by the students as an elderly man, lost his temper.

One of the girls, 15 year old B (pseudonym) said, “He started yelling at us to get out and demanded we pay 187 baht. I transferred the money to his account using TrueMoney, but he screamed that the money hadn’t arrived and told me to transfer it again. I was so scared. I asked my friend to transfer the money a second time.”

After pocketing both payments, the driver ordered them out of the cab in the middle of the traffic jam and drove off.

Another girl, 14 year old C (pseudonym) said, “I used my phone to send the money again, this time from my Kasikorn Bank account. After he saw the second transfer, he shouted at us to get out. We were shocked because both transfers had already gone through.”

Left soaked and shaken, the girls called another taxi to complete their journey. The following evening, they and their furious parents went to Rattanathibet Police Station to file a formal complaint.

C’s mother 45 year old Air, said, “He knew they were schoolchildren. He knew exactly which school they attended. Why didn’t he contact us to return the extra money? This is disgraceful behaviour. Has he done this to other passengers?”

Police quickly traced the taxi driver using his vehicle registration and bank account details. When officers called the driver, his son answered the phone. Realising the matter had reached the police, the son transferred 187 baht back to B without so much as an apology, reported Channel 3 Plus.

Air said she was disappointed by the lack of remorse but hoped this case would serve as a warning.

“I want this to be an example,” she said. “No passenger should ever be treated this way.”
