Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe is in disbelief after learning that his star player, Oswin Appollis, has joined Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers announced the news on Tuesday afternoon, shocking many fans. Appollis, a Bafana Bafana player, had been heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs for over a year, but no deal ever materialised.
Upon hearing that Appollis had been sold, the City coach noted that the player had trained with the club on Tuesday before Pirates made the announcement.
“My man, I don’t know if that is true or what. When did he join Orlando Pirates because I have just left training and I was with him at training?” Mohafe told KickOff.com.
“So I don’t know… when did he join Pirates?
“But I’m not shocked, maybe a bit surprised because you will never know what’s happening during the night.”

“So, I will only believe the news about Appollis when I don’t see him at training. When the boss tells me I will no longer see Appollis at training, that’s when I will believe he is gone. That’s the only time I will accept the decision.
“But again, already last season I had players who are better than Appollis but were not playing. So, if he goes it’s fine. It won’t be a big loss,” Mohafe said.
Appollis is Orlando Pirates’ ninth season after the club announced eight new players last week.
