Orlando Pirates pounce to sign free agent Kanoute
According to AfrikaFoot and Soccer Laduma, Orlando Pirates have offered R10 million for 28-year-old free agent Sadio Kanoute. He was most recently with the Malian side Stade Malien after winning a league and cup double, and has also represented Simba. The central midfielder has seven caps for Mali. 23-year-old Abdoulaye Mariko, also a Malian central midfielder, is another recruit. Pirates will now have a wealth of options in the centre of the park with Sihle Nduli, Makhehlene Makhaula and new boy Masindi Nemtajela contesting for a place in the side.
What do Pirates’ other new signings bring to the party?
The club has welcomed seven new players. Nkosikhona Ndaba comes in as a replacement for departed left-back Paseka Mako. Meanwhile, Yanela Mbuthuma is a new option up front, with winger Moremi adding directness and pace in wide areas. Sihle Nduli and Sinoxolo Kwayiba add some authority and creative spark in central midfield. Tshepho Mashiloane is a solid utility option covering both full-back spots.
