President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his Christian faith, stating that he believes only two genders exist—male and female.
Speaking at a fellowship with the clergy at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday, February 28, 2025, Mahama emphasised that his leadership is guided by his religious values and the cultural beliefs of the Ghanaian people.
“As a Christian, I uphold the values that only two genders exist—man and woman—and that marriage is between a man and a woman,” he said.
The President’s remarks come amid discussions on the reintroduction of the Anti-LGBTQI Bill, which he has proposed should be a government-sponsored initiative rather than a private members’ bill.
Mahama assured the clergy that his administration remains committed to preserving Ghanaian family values and ensuring that policies reflect the will of the people.
