Former Deputy Finance Minister, Stephen Amoah PhD has debunked claims of Ghana’s economy being in shambles.
He says the previous government handed over a restored economy to the John Dramani Mahama-led administration.
The Nhyeaso Member of Parliament acknowledged challenges while in office but the previous government surmounted these challenges before leaving office.
“We handed over a restored economy to the Mahama government. A working economy, operationally it was so fundamentally correct that the economy that we left in terms of primary macro indicators, secondary macro indicators, in terms of education, in terms of agriculture,” he said.
Adding that “All the payment that he’s talking about, where did they get money from? In less than two months Mahama’s government has borrowed Ghc 59 billion. It is unprecedented”.
President of Ghana while addressing Parliament for the first time in the year indicated that the economy he came to be is so bad.
He explains that he cannot be seen shifting blame but things look as if the previous government wanted to destroy the country.
He, has, however, promised to ensure that the economic challenges are fixed and lives made better.
