South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced that strict gate quotas will be in place at Kruger National Park (KNP) during the current school holidays.
The new quotas will be in place from Saturday, 28 June to Monday, 21 July 2025.
The move aims to manage increased visitor numbers and protect the park’s environment and wildlife.
Book ahead or risk being turned away
Due to the expected influx of families seeking a nature getaway, SANParks is urging all visitors to book their Kruger National Park day visits online in advance. Gate quotas will apply to all visitors, meaning access will be restricted based on pre-booked time slots. Walk-ins without a reservation risk being denied entry.
Entry time slots will be as follows:
- Slot 1: 06:00 – 08:00
- Slot 2: 08:00 – 10:00
- Slot 3: 10:00 onwards
All visitors must stick to their chosen time slot to avoid delays or complications at Kruger National Park gates.
“Visitors are urged to plan their trips and allow sufficient time to enjoy the bush, relax and arrive safely at their destination. Visitors should consult camp and gate receptions for an updated information on road closures or visit our social media platforms.” SANParks said.
