The Alto Knights sees Robert De Niro returning to familiar territory, playing two rival mob bosses at the same time with the help of prosthetic makeup and CGI. De Niro’s new movie also involves collaborators from some of his most acclaimed and best-loved works, including Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, and The Irishman. It’s only natural to assume, then, that the director who ties all these movies together, Martin Scorsese, is behind The Alto Knights, too. Yet, Scorsese has nothing to do with De Niro’s latest project.
