Man Arrested for Threatening Child with Weapon and Using Racial Slurs at Paradise Baseball Game

Paradise police officers have arrested a transient individual named Brandon Bocanegra, aged 44, from the Chico area, following an incident at a baseball game. The arrest took place after Bocanegra allegedly threatened a child with a deadly weapon, made racially-based epithets, and used sexually explicit language.

The incident occurred at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, March 25, at the Terry Ashe Recreation Center on Skyway in Paradise. Bocanegra faces multiple charges, including threatening to assault a juvenile with a deadly weapon, hate crimes, annoying/molesting a minor, and public intoxication.

According to police, Bocanegra targeted one child specifically, making verbal threats and intimidating him. The suspect reportedly used racially biased and sexually suggestive language during the confrontation. Officers noted that Bocanegra appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the incident.
