Ireland AM hosts left in stitches as Tommy Bowe makes shock admission on air after sharing housemate horror stories

IRELAND AM hosts were all left in stitches as Tommy Bowe made a shock admission on air.

The Virgin Media star returned on screens this week alongside Alan Hughes and Muireann O’Connell for their usual telly laughs.

Yesterday, the hosts talked about Alice Wilkinson’s book How to Stay Sane in a House Share, and asked viewers to send in their anecdotes.

One viewer, Karen, revealed that she came home one day to find her Australian housemate’s jeans hanging over the cooking rings to dry them.

Tommy related to the dilemma and admitted: “We used to dry out stuff in the oven.”

The rugby star’s co-hosts looked completely dumbfounded as Muireann shouted: “No you didn’t!”

Alan asked: “Would they not burn?”

Tommy replied: “Well you wouldn’t keep them on for long, you’d have them on low heat. But the smell…”

Muireann pressed Tommy further on the logistics saying: “Why wouldn’t you put on the heating.”

Tommy explained: “Well we didn’t actually have heating in that house at the time.”

Later on in the programme, they read out another viewer’s story that said when her housemate spilled liquid on the floor, he’d remove their shoe and wipe it up with his sock.

And Alan laughed a little too hard at the message as he was also guilty of doing the same.

He said: “Hands up… now, I’ve done that.”

Last week Tommy and Muireann were forced to apologise after a series of live blunders.

The pair sat down with Elaina Ryan, who’s the CEO of Children’s Books Ireland, to showcase a variety of kids books.

Muireann introduced the segment and mistakingly said “source” instead of “stories”.

LIVE BLUNDER

The Limerick native was quick to correct herself saying: “Now from interactive source.. I’ll try that again, interactive stories to suspense-filled reads.”

The popular presenter made a dig at herself as she added: “We’ve got a range of reading recommendations for your children this morning who will be able to read better than I can.

“Let’s be perfectly frank. Get them reading earlier than me.”

Tommy replied: “Better than me, I hope.”

During the segment, Tommy read out of the books as “Mary Murphy’s Forever Friends”.

Elaina rectified the mistake and she responded: “Friends Forever is a fabulous book.”

Tommy and Muireann burst out laughing and put their hands over their face in shame.
