DRIVERS outside a busy Irish town are being warned of major delays this morning following a multi-vehicle collision on a Irish motorway.
The incident occurred on the popular motorway connecting Dublin to Belfast.
Commuters on a number of public transport routes are also being impacted this morning by further delays and cancellations.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland have issued a warning following a crash on the M1 is causing significant delays for motorway drivers.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred on the M1/N1 northbound between Junction 5 Balbriggan and Junction 4 Donabate.
TII said: “Delays to your journey will occur. Consider a different journey route or start time.
“When approaching the collision location, drive with caution, reduce your speed and obey instructions from emergency services.”
Gardai are also at the scene of a four-vehicle crash that took place shortly before 7am this morningin Co Cork.
The horror collision on the N25 at Ballyhobert in Youghal involved three trucks and one car.
The busy road has been closed and local diversions have been put in place.
There is a build up of traffic congestion along Dublin’s M50 this morning also, with both north and southbound traffic impacted.
Southbound, there is congestion between Junction 3 M1/M50 and Junction 5 M50/N2, Junction 4 Ballymun and Junction 6 M50/N3, Junction 5 M50/N2 and Junction 7 M50/N4 and between Junction 6 M50/N3 and Junction 11 (N81) Tallaght as well as between Junction 10 Ballymount and Junction 13 Dundrum and Junction 12 Firhouse and Junction 13 Dundrum.
Northbound, there is congestion between Junction 9 (N7) Red Cow and Junction 6 M50/N3, Junction 9 (N7) Red Cow and Junction 7 M50/N4, Junction 12 Firhouse and Junction 9 (N7) Red Cow and between Junction 17 M50/M11 and Junction 14 (N31) Dun Laoghaire.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT IMPACTS
Bus Eireann has confirmed that a number of services have been disrupted this morning.
Route NX from Dublin to Navan at 7.42am has been cancelled, as well as the 105X from Fairyhouse to Baggot Street at 7.25am.
Route 260 and route 40 Expressway are set to be delayed until further notice following a road traffic accident on the N25.
Bus Eireann has confirmed that diversions are in place.
Further diversions are in place for the 233, operating through Coachford until April 4.
Routes 40 and 260 will see a temporary road closure from 6am this morning until 6pm on April 25.
Bus Eireann said: “Cork County Council have advised that in order to facilitate roadworks, N25/R634 Slip Road, Kennel, Youghal (westbound) will be closed to traffic from 06:00hrs Tuesday, 25th March to approximately 18:00hrs Friday, 25th April, 2025, inclusive.
“As a result, Routes 40 & 260 will operate via L7894 before rejoining the slip road for the duration of the closure.
“Bus Eireann apologies for any inconvenience these disruptions may cause.”
