“I’m having a cry right now”: CM Punk Giving Stephanie McMahon a Gross Sweaty Hug Backstage is Just Wholesome to Watch

If there has been one wrestler living out his life to the fullest, it has to be CM Punk. The Second City Saint did everything one could, wreaked havoc on WWE, captured the championship, lost it to The Rock and delivered a promo that would forever remain as one of the most iconic in the history of pro-wrestling. He then left WWE, fought in UFC, suffered a defeat, teased appearances in pro-wrestling and finally made a return to AEW.

Just when the fans weren’t expecting to listen to the ‘Cult of Personality’ anymore on the WWE titantron, they were stunned and startled as Punk came down the pike once more, announcing his return to WWE at the 2023 Survivor Series. However, like the way his arrival made the fans holler at the top of their lungs, the emotions weren’t echoed in the squared circle.

Punk’s arrival led to the reignition of a ferocious animosity with the likes of Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. Even though Rollins didn’t pursue the feud straightaway, it was McIntyre who went after Punk and a fierce battle ensued. The duo left the fans on their toes with embers of the Attitude Era flying wild amongst the too.

A teaser from an upcoming WWE show called Stephanie’s Places was shared on Stephanie McMahon’s Instagram. In that video, CM Punk was involved in a heart-to-heart with Steph. The duo talked about the Chicago Cubs, dreams, and the kinds of them, and it concluded with a giant bear hug from Punk to Steph.

Punk was backstage having a personal moment of his, where he might have shedded a drop of tear or so when Stephanie walked in. It was followed by Punk opening up to Steph, talking about his emotional moment. Steph asked him about his fortunes in Cleveland, which was a possible hint at his UFC battle with Mickey Gall. Punk was defeated but he took it as a sport and he called the Chicago Cubs with their nickname ‘The Loveable Losers’.

“I am having a bit a cry right now.”

Steph very subtly asked, with a shot of humor in her voice, if Punk had injured himself in the process. The answer to this from Punk was downright powerful. Punk said, “If your dreams do not scare the sh** out of you, then you need bigger dreams.” Punk’s return to WWE and his ability to dish out those gilt-edged matches have always served as a massive inspiration.

Steph didn’t fail to recognize that and echoed on his face that he actually did provide a lot for the company to be inspired by. This was followed by a ‘big sweaty’ hug that Punk gave Stephanie. She also said that this wasn’t something new as he had been doing it for a long time. That was an emotionally charged moment for all the fans around the globe.

Ever since Punk returned to the WWE, he has fought Drew McIntyre in what has been an extended battle disseminating across their real lives as well. McIntyre’s hate for Punk isn’t just limited to the screens. Apart from that, he is now involved in a rivalry with Seth Rollins which might also have Roman Reigns enlisted as the third member of a triple-threat fight.

In his latest promo on WWE Raw, CM Punk made it clear that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are standing in his path. He also shed some light on the fact that Rollins and Reigns have a personal rivalry, but for him, it is just a roadblock, and he will go all guns blazing if needed to get the other two out of the way.

On the road to WrestleMania at Nottingham, CM Punk teamed up with Cody Rhodes to take on the likes of Solo Sikoa and Gunther. The duo emerged victorious as well and after the bout, Punk shed a tear or two, owing to his long-standing relationship with the American Nightmare.

With CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins involved in a battle at Mania, the fans simply cannot wait to see them go head-to-head against each other. From a full-blown bloodied brawl to a flurry of tactical brilliance in the ring, the rivalry can actually be a swashbuckler. No matter the consequence, the fans can expect this to be a battle of epic proportions.
