Elizabeth Olsen had been acting for a long time before she was cast as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlett Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the MCU role propelled her to success worldwide, making her one of the most popular comic book actors across the world thanks to her portrayal. She was last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which apparently was a big mess.

Now that the MCU is gearing up for an epic conclusion to its multiversal saga, Olsen recently revealed in an interview that she won’t be returning for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Well, fans do not believe her one bit despite her confirmation.
Elizabeth Olsen confirms she won’t return for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars

Elizabeth Olsen‘s Wanda met her death at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when she destroys Mount Wundagore, collapsing it upon herself. Even the subsequent series, Agatha All Along, sealed her fate, solidifying the fact that the Scarlett Witch is really dead despite Marvel’s earlier confirmation.
However, as we all know, nothing is really gone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and many fans expect Scarlett Witch to return to the MCU given she is one of the most powerful characters in the world. However, Olsen, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, confirmed she won’t be back for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
The actress revealed that the two films, which will be shot back-to-back, are gearing up for a shoot in London soon. But she won’t be a part of them as she just returned to the US and will be busy filming a pilot for FX, called Seven Sisters. She also talked about the fact of how expansive and dominating Marvel is, taking up so much physical time and space in the world, making it important for her to do work that is more reflective of her personal taste.
Fans reaction to Elizabeth Olsen’s confirmation that she won’t return as the Scarlett Witch

Wanda Maximoff might have ended two major threats to the multiverse, herself and Mount Wundagore with her death, but she remains one of the most powerful characters ever in the MCU. Given that the multiverse is still present, Marvel can easily bring her back through some other timeline or the Scarlett Witch might be faking her own death.
Since she is one of the most powerful beings with the power to access the multiverse, it would make little sense to have Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars without Scarlett Witch. So when fans got to know Elizabeth Olsen’s recent comments about her return to the MCU, they are refusing to believe that the actress is telling the truth.
Well, fans are not convinced that Scarlett Witch won’t return, given the important role she can play with either of the two camps: potentially siding with RDJ’s Doctor Doom or siding with the Avengers. While the former is most likely to happen, Scarlett Witch is one of the most interesting and well-developed characters of the MCU, and not having her back for the upcoming two films would be a severe letdown for fans.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
