Eva Longoria Said She “Couldn’t Sleep With One More Person” on Desperate Housewives

Eva Longoria grew tired of Desperate Housewives constantly pairing her character, Gabrielle Solis, with new love interests. The endless romantic entanglements became exhausting, making it hard to keep up. While the show thrived on scandal, even Longoria had her limits.

Fortunately, Gaby eventually found a more stable love story, though not without plenty of twists. The on-again, off-again relationships, betrayals, and dramatic reconciliations kept things interesting, but at least there was a sense of continuity.

Eva Longoria reflects on Desperate Housewives and why a reboot may never happen

Eva Longoria is getting real about her time on Desperate Housewives, and why a reboot might not be in the cards.

Reflecting on the show’s outrageous storylines, Longoria admitted stuff during an interview with ET Online. She expressed doubt about whether the show could be made today, suggesting it might face cultural backlash. She explained that its groundbreaking nature and shocking moments were bold for the time.

I could not sleep with one more person on that street – I was like, ‘I’ve slept with everybody. You’ve slept with everybody! We’ve exchanged husbands.’ It was like, ‘What else? What other stories could we possibly tell [with] these women?

She and her co-stars had already pushed the boundaries, making the drama both groundbreaking and, by today’s standards, potentially cancelable.

The ABC hit, which ran from 2004 to 2012, made Longoria a household name as the glamorous (and scandalous) Gabrielle Solis. But behind the steamy affairs and shocking twists, the actress had her doubts. She recalled,

I just remember pinching myself. I remember reading the script and going, ‘Well, this will never go,’ because it was so different…It wasn’t a comedy and it wasn’t a drama. Nobody knew what we were and when we did the first table read, it was like goosebumps because it was the entire cast and it was the first time we all had met.

Turns out, it went everywhere. Longoria also revealed a casting shake-up behind her infamous on-screen affair. Originally, Gabby’s teen lover was played by a much younger actor. Enter Jesse Metcalfe, who, at 25, played 16-year-old John Rowland, while Longoria, then 27, was playing 40.

As for a reboot? Series creator Marc Cherry isn’t interested. But if that ever changed, she’d be the first to sign on.

Eva Longoria just had a full-circle Hollywood moment. The Desperate Housewives star posed next to her Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Wednesday, hours before the big premiere of her new Disney+ film (via Telegrafi), Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.

Looking effortlessly chic in a strapless olive green dress and white heels, the 50-year-old actress glowed in the spotlight. Later, she hit the El Capitan Theatre to celebrate the film’s release, stepping into the role of Val Garcia, a mother navigating a wild family adventure to California.

Longoria also got personal in an interview, recalling her childhood in Texas and how she once saw herself as the “ugly duckling” among her sisters. But with her signature wit and charm, she carved her own path — one that now leads straight to Hollywood’s biggest moments.
