Elisabeth Moss Confirms She Gave Birth by Recalling Bringing Her Baby Onto The Handmaid’s Tale Set

Elisabeth Moss is a proud mama, and she revealed she even brought her newborn into a very important spot.

In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, she spoke about how incredible it was to bring her newborn onto the set of The Handmaid’s Tale with her for the last season.

“It was incredibly meaningful to be able to end this show as a mom, I got to tell you,” she said. “Because I’m playing this character who is this iconic mother figure. All mothers are heroines, and she’s definitely a heroine.”

While promoting the final season during a PaleyFest LA event via the same outlet, Moss said she was “so fortunate to be able to” bring her child on set, adding, “So many parents cannot. Any of us who had the privilege of being able to bring our kids or see our kids at work, we would every single time be like, ‘Aren’t we lucky to get to do that?’”

Now, this last season of the Emmy-winning Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale is very much centered around Moss’ character, June Osborne, trying to reconnect with her oldest daughter after she was taken away from her. When the sixth and final season launches on Hulu on April 8, fans will see Moss launching an all-out rebellion to try to take down the government and get back her daughter.

Since Moss brought her own child onto the set of this final season, she revealed how “visceral” the emotions became to her.

She said, “This coming together of art and life that was undoubtedly, incredibly meaningful. I’m really glad that I got to have this last season playing June with a little bit more of a visceral emotional experience of some of the things that June is talking about or fighting for. I’m really happy that I got to have that experience.”

Now, we don’t know the baby’s name or sex, with Moss keeping the details quiet, but we do know she revealed her pregnancy last year. Specifically, back in Jan 2024, Moss was on Jimmy Kimmel Live, debuting her baby bump.

“Are you pregnant or just an incredibly committed method actor?” host Jimmy Kimmel asked, to which she joked back “A little bit of both.” But she did add a small snippet, saying, “It’s been going really well.” She then asked Kimmel, 56, for advice.

And yes, as far as we know, Moss hasn’t revealed the identity of her baby’s father. She did have two public relationships once upon a time: one with her ex-husband Fred Armisen from 2008 to 2011, and was in a relationship with Adam Arkapaw from 2012 to 2015.

Since then, she’s remained very quiet about her personal life, especially in the romance department. She revealed her mindset on this back in 2019 during a chat with Marie Claire, saying, “I learned you just don’t talk about it. Who really gives a s–t whether or not I’m dating anyone? I hate to put that importance on it. I cringe a little.”

These celebrities have guarded their babies’ names like a state secret.
