Best Armor in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a hit, and millions of players are exploring the beautiful scenery of Japan in the eyes of Naoe and Yasuke. The armor system in AC Shadows lets you tailor Naoe and Yasuke to their preferred playstyles. The game’s dual protagonist system has been a cool addition to the game.

Naoe is your typical stealthy and agile ninja, and Yasuke is a bug brute who prefers head-on action. The best armor pieces in the game are legendary and have perks that benefit different playstyles for both protagonists.

So depending on which character’s playstyle you prefer, there are a lot of armor options to tailor your experience. Here’s the best armor setup for both Naoe and Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Best armor setup for Naoe in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Naoe is your quintessential assassin in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Her playstyle focuses on swift movement, stealth, and precise assassinations. So naturally, the best armor for her helps with these aspects. Don’t forget about those engravings though! We have a guide for that too.

Tools Master Gear (Light Armor)

  • Perk: Throw a kunai at the nearest enemy after an assassination.
  • Where to get: Katano Castle, Izumi Settsu.

This armor piece will let you do double assassinations without requiring the perk, making it incredibly useful in stealth-heavy encounters. It even stacks with the tanto’s perk, so you can even do triple takedowns.

Master Assassin Gear (Light Armor)

  • Perk: Assassinations remove two extra health segments.
  • Where to get: Reward for completing the Out of the Shadows epilogue quest.

If you’re up against tanky enemies, this armor will give you a better chance at assassinating them.

Hidden Servant Kosode (Light Armor)

  • Perk: Increases adrenaline generation in restricted areas.
  • Where to get: Kameyama Castle, Tamba.

There are a lot of Restricted zones, such as castles and enemy camps in the game. With this armor, you’ll be able to use more abilities when you explore these risky areas.

I think AC: Shadows might have one of the best representations of armor I’ve seen in a long time.

Hidden Servant Hat (Headgear)

  • Perk: Assassinating an enemy generates an adrenaline chunk.
  • Where to get: Takeda Castle, Tamba.

This headgear is another investment for Naoe’s adrenaline and it will help you use abilities more often and maintain her combat flow.

Otakemaru’s Battlecry (Trinket)

  • Perk: +1% health per mastery point in the Shinobi skill tree.
  • Where to get: Koriyama Camp, Izumi Settsu.

You’ll be spending most of Naoe’s skill points in the Shinobi tree. This trinket will give her a good amount of overall health, providing better durability.

Best armor setup for Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Yasuke is a straightforward, head-on Samurai and he relies on parries, counterattacks, and high-damage strikes. Because of this, you’ll focus on armor that improves his defense, parries, and maximizes his damage output.

Protector’s Armor (Armor)

  • Perk: Allows parrying of unblockable attacks.
  • Where to get: Nijo Palace, Yamashiro.

This armor removes one of Yasuke’s biggest weaknesses by letting him counter normally unblockable attacks. It’s an essential piece for most people.

Defense Master Clothing (Armor)

  • Perk: Parrying enables the next hit to restore health.
  • Where to get: Himeji Castle, Harima.

With Yasuke constantly engaging in melee combat, having a built-in healing mechanic will save you a lot of items.

Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend (Armor)

  • Perk: Increases damage but limits health.
  • Where to get: Kanki Castle, Harima.

This is for all of you eyes closed charge forward type of players. High risk, high reward.

Protector’s Helmet (Helmet)

  • Perk: Reflects 50% of damage to the attacker after a parry.
  • Where to get: Hanazono Castle, Yamashiro.

This helmet pairs perfectly with the Protector’s Armor, ensuring that every parry you get helps you offensively as well.

Destroyer Samurai Helmet (Helmet)

  • Perk: The lower your health, the more damage you deal.
  • Where to get: Defeat Kimura Kei in the Fighting for a Cause quest.

Ideal for a glass-cannon setup, this helmet complements the Samurai Daimyo Armor. It’s one of those low-health, high-damage builds.

Kitsune’s Trickery (Amulet)

  • Perk: +1% health per mastery point in the Samurai skill tree.
  • Where to get: Assassinate The Fool in the Lost Honor quest.

With Yasuke, you’ll mostly be spending points in the Samurai skill tree. With this amulet, you’ll have a lot more survivability and can even go for a tank build of sorts if you want.

Both Naoe and Yasuke have different playstyles in Assassin’s Creed Shadows and these armor pieces are the best to pick from in your playthrough. Share your thoughts in the comments!
