Singapore-based Malaysian actor Shaun Chen (陈泓宇) recently took to social media late at night to share heartbreaking news.
His father has tragically passed away after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Malaysia.
Was in Thailand with family during earthquake
Shaun shared that he and his family were in Thailand when an earthquake hit. Fortunately, they were unharmed.
However, tragedy struck on the same day at around 10.35 am. His father, who was riding a motorcycle, was hit by a car that sped off without stopping.
Declared brain dead at the hospital
Shaun said his father was rushed to the hospital, where doctors later confirmed he was brain-dead and had no heartbeat.
And just like that, he was gone,” he wrote.
Despite the pain, Shaun said he wasn’t seeking revenge. All he wants is for the driver to come forward and apologise.
I hope this person (the driver) can come forward. I will not seek revenge.”
‘Say sorry to my dad’
In the same post, Shaun switched to English and urged the driver to step forward and apologise to his late father face-to-face.
My father doesn’t even know you. Why would you treat him like this?”
He then uploaded a dashcam video showing a Proton Wira overtaking at a bend and crashing into a motorcyclist. The rider, believed to be his father, is seen lying motionless on the road.
The driver has yet to be identified.
