Created by Nick Santora, the action crime television series Reacher starring Alan Ritchson is based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child. The series, upon release, has garnered positive comments from critics and the audience. Fans were impressed with Ritchson’s work on the show and especially with the fact that he appeared as the character was described in the book.

The third season of Reacher, which was based on the book Persuader, holds about a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The series was renewed for a fourth season, and the actor already has his mind set on which book should be adapted for season 4.
Alan Ritchson reveals the book he thinks aligns with Season 4 of Reacher
Actor Alan Ritchson is one of the most admired actors in the industry, and ardent fans of Reacher absolutely love and respect him for everything he’s been doing to bring the character to life on-screen. Reacher recently wrapped up its third season and is already set to make a return with a fourth season soon.
In a recent interview with Men’s Journal, Alan Ritchson and Maria Sten shared their respective choices of the books, that they think should be adapted for the upcoming season of Reacher. For Sten, she’d like the makers to adapt Without Fail for season four as it centers around her character Frances Neagley. She shared,
They’ll probably never do it. I would really love Neagley to pop back on Reacher to do that one.
However, the lead actor of the show has another book on his mind and shared that he’d like to adapt Die Trying for the upcoming season. In Die Trying, Reacher is kidnapped and handcuffed to a woman claiming to be FBI. What follows next is a chaotic cross-country trip as Reacher tries to uncover the mystery behind his kidnapping.

Alan Ritchson shared,
I would love to see that happen. And so far, there’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not we should or should not. I guess we’ll see what the future holds. I’ll find a way.
Fans have been wondering if Alan Ritchson will ever appear in a Reacher movie, especially after Tom Cruise played the character in 2012’s Jack Reacher and later in 2016’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Even though the movies received positive comments, fans always complained that Cruise did not fit the appearance of Reacher.
But Alan Ritchson believes that if his series is adapted into movies, it might mess up the magic they’ve created over the seasons. He said (via Men’s Journal),
I think it would probably do a disservice to the books. I don’t know if I’d fight for films. I like being able to weave in what feels like two, three, or four films around Reacher throughout the year. I am happy with the way things are.
The actor noted during the interview that he loves the character and would love to adapt as many Reacher books as possible.
He mentioned that Reacher is a part of his life once a year, and there is no end to that for him, pointing out that Amazon is super committed to this, and they are in for the long haul.
Alan Ritchson on filming the season 3 finale of Reacher
The third season of Reacher concluded on March 27, 2025, and the actor went on to reveal while speaking to EW that he was knocked unconscious during a fight scene for the finale.

Alan Ritchson went on to explain,
I got picked up, and we worked out the camera thing a few times, and he slammed me through the table so hard, I went through it into the seventh circle of hell. And I woke up a day and a half later. When I came to, I had to tell my kids that I felt great, because they were on set, and I didn’t want them to think like Dad died.
The actor recalled that it was the worst few minutes of his life. Ritchson, who has been praised for his work on the show, shared that the idea of Reacher getting ragdolled for five minutes straight was intriguing, and so he wanted the camera to come up and just stay on his face the whole time while he got smashed through a table on the barn floor.
It was not like his team, who specifically mentioned him, that he’d get himself killed and advised him to use a stuntman, did not warn Ritchson, but the actor refused and wanted to perform the scene on his own. The entire situation later reminded the actor of saying, ‘Be careful what you wish for.’
Reacher is streaming on Prime Video.
