Diamond Mountain Speedway Future is Uncertain

A number of folks supporting the Diamond Mountain Speedway are due to attend the next Fair Board Advisory meeting. That meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 at the Lassen County Fair Office. A number of racers are expected to attend the meeting after the only bid to operate the race tack was rejected. Reina Davis, the sole bidder for a contract to operate a race track, expressed frustration after her proposal was rejected without explanation.

Davis’s proposal aimed to increase the number of races from 15 to 17 and boost the fair’s earnings from each race to $1,050. However, after submitting her proposal, she received a generic rejection letter without any scoring or feedback, leaving her without guidance on how to improve for future bids.

The fair board’s rules might allow Davis to protest the decision based on her proposal’s score, but since no score was provided, her options seem limited.  With the racing season approaching, Payer indicated it might be too late to secure a promoter in time and was uncertain about issuing another request for proposals.
