Unperturbed by the petition from a group of concerned citizens of Okyeman to urge him to apologise for his description of J.B Danquah, Murtala Mohammed PhD has indicated that the country’s history will not be buried.
A group of concerned citizens from Okyeman, led by the Coalition for Youth Development in Okyeman in the Eastern Region, petitioned Parliament to take action against the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Murtala Muhammed, over his alleged derogatory comments about the late J.B. Danquah.
The group in their petition claimed that Murtala Muhammed made false and denigrating remarks about J.B. Danquah, a key figure in Ghana’s independence movement, describing him as a traitor and an agent of the CIA.
The group considers these comments to be not only insulting but also misleading, distorting historical facts and tarnishing the legacy of J.B. Danquah.
But in a recent post on J. B Danquah, Murtala Mohammed did not change his stance on J.B Danquah.
According to him, “The attempt to bury the true political history of this country in a grave paved over by threats and tribal bigotry will not sell”.
He added further that “J.B Danquah was not only a traitor, he also supported the vote against the “Motion of Destiny”.
