GUT health is big news, with research linking digestive wellness with overall health.
A balanced diet of fibre, fruit and veg – plus products such as kimchi, kombucha and kefir – is key.

But three experts have brought out products that may also help.
Here I put them to the test . . .
Probiotic capsules
DR MEGAN ROSSI is known as the Gut Health Doctor and for a few years has been secretly working on a new range of probiotics called SMART STRAINS ®.
Many probiotics sold contain a mix of probiotics, which can be a bit like taking a multivit when you need something specific.
But SMART STRAINS has four that each specifically target a problem: fussy babies, vaginal microbiome, one for when you’re on antibiotics and one for your immune system.
I love that this is for all the family, as kids from four upwards can also have it.
- From £16.99 for a month’s supply. Available via smartstrains.com and Tesco Pharmacies nationwide.
Kombucha sachets

KOMBUCHA is a fermented drink made from tea, sugar, bacteria, and yeast that is rich in probiotics.
Biohacker Davinia Taylor’s company WillPowders has just brought out the Kombucha Collection which comes in three flavours: Fresh, Light and an aromatic and spicy one called Warm.
But these aren’t drinks, they are powders which come in small sachets.
They’ve used cutting edge tech to keep the probiotics alive and thriving while cutting out the sugar.
The 5g sachets are mixed with water.
I love the crisp Fresh one – a great alternative to a white wine and just 11 calories.
- RRP £27 for 15 sachets or £1.80 a go. willpowders.com.
All-in-one drink

FOR years David Beckham has focused on his health and now he’s brought out a wellness brand IM8 with a drink called Daily Ultimate Essentials: All-in-One Supplement that contains 92 ingredients and replaces the need for 16 daily supplements.
In one drink there are vitamins and minerals – with large doses of vitamin C and B12 – plus dried superfoods including blueberry, turmeric and milk thistle.
It also includes amino acids and electrolytes, a mushroom complex for cognitive health, cell rejuvenation technology, heart health support and gut health goodies: prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics.
The flavour is acai and mixed berries.
- From £2.63 per serving. im8health.com
