TESCO have urgently recalled a popular £1 seasoning over health risk fears.

The warning is for a batch of garlic powder which is believed to contain peanut traces.

This makes the affected batch “unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts”.

Consumers have been urged not to eat the implicated batch by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

But there could be serious consequences for those who unknowingly consume it.

The potentially life-threating seasoning batch has a pack size of 45g and expires in February next year.

Shoppers who are allergic to peanuts are encouraged to check if they bought the seasoning.

Severe allergic reactions to peanuts include vomiting, hives, and difficulty breathing.

Anaphylaxis is the most severe allergic reaction to peanuts.

It is a life-threatening whole-body response to an allergen.

Symptoms can include tightening of the throat, shortness of breath and skin reactions.

Tesco shoppers who are allergic to peanuts or sensitive to them are being urged to check their cupboards for this affected batch of garlic powder.

They should not eat the garlic powder and instead return them to their nearest Tesco store for a refund, even if they don’t have a receipt.
