Luke Littler on track to rival Anthony Joshua’s superstardom as Eddie Hearn hails darts champ’s ‘meteoric rise’

LUKE LITTLER is on track to rival Anthony Joshua’s superstardom thanks to his meteoric rise.

Littler shot to fame as a 16-year-old outsider at last year’s darts world championship – where he made it all the way to the final.

He lost to Luke Humphries but 12 months on and he did become the sport’s youngest world champion aged just 17.

Eddie Hearn was on hand to watch Joshua’s ascension to the top of the boxing and celebrity world.

And the fight promoter is also chairman of the Professional Darts Corporation – meaning he works with two of Britain’s biggest sports stars.

Hearn told SunSport: “I think right now Luke Litter is probably the most instantly recognisable face in sport in the UK.

“I mean, there isn’t anyone that doesn’t know who Luke Litter is or what he’s doing right now.

“He won again in the Premier League in Brighton, and he’s just going from strength to strength.

“I mean, he’s such an impressive young man in the sense that he’s performing under the utmost of pressure and keeping his head as well.

“So he’s got a great team of people around him and he’s on a meteoric rise.”

Inside Littler’s massive rise

LUKE LITTLER has taken the darts world by storm since exploding onto the scene at the PDC World Championship at the beginning of the year.

The Nuke reached the final on his Ally Pally debut at just 16 years of age – smashing records along the way.

He has then gone on to win a host of PDC events and the Premier League title – which he claimed at the O2 Arena by beating world champion Luke Humphries in May.

He also finished his first season in the World Series as the No1 ranked player.

He has joined Jude Bellingham on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list.

And the teenage titan even had to snub an invite from the WWE.

The Sun exclusively revealed that Littler is plotting to create a fitness empire.

He is also cashing in away from the Oche thanks to an Instagram side hustle.

And he’s even the face of a brand new cereal.

But he is newly single after splitting from girlfriend Eloise Milburn following a 10-month relationship.

Joshua, 35, has been through it all with the British public on his journey as a two-time world heavyweight champion.

And Hearn has been there to navigate the ups and downs – something he warned Littler will also have to experience.

He said: “I’m sure there’s gonna be a time where Luke Litler’s not liked like he is now but that really comes with success and that’s just the rollercoaster of fame.

“So like I said, he seems to have a very level head on his shoulders and the PDC and support team do a great job in making sure that he’s prepared for what comes.”
