Former Tema Central MP, Yves Hanson-Nortey, has expressed confidence in his party’s ability to recapture power in the next general election.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGH, he emphasized the need for reflection and restructuring to regain the trust of Ghanaians.
“We are going to learn from that. We’re going to learn from our mistakes. We’re going to learn from where we fell short and rebuild to recapture power in 2028.
“I believe that we have what it takes to recapture power, and Ghanaians will get the opportunity to compare us to what our current government is doing and then take a decision in our favor in 2028,” he stated.
Hanson-Nortey also addressed perceptions that MPs who lose their primaries become disengaged from parliamentary work. He insisted that his commitment to his duties remained steadfast despite his electoral setback.
“When I lost the primaries, I spent more time in Parliament because one of the reasons why I lost was because I was spending a lot of time in Parliament. The parliamentary craft is something you must learn, and it takes time,” he explained.
Reflecting on governance and party challenges, Hanson-Nortey acknowledged that the party’s defeat in the last election was due to governance shortcomings. He stressed that the loss had prompted deep introspection among party members.
