A totally relatable mom moment! Dylan Dreyer shared a hilarious parenting fail involving her 3-year-old son, Russell “Rusty” Fichera, showing the boy fast asleep over dinner.
The Today meteorologist, 43, showed Rusty conked out on her shoulder while sitting at a table with a plate of pasta in front of them on Wednesday, March 5. She also included a close-up photo of his sweet, sleeping face.
“Guess I need to work on my dinner conversation …,” Dylan captioned the snapshots.
“Babies love us no matter the conversation,” one fan reassured the NBC personality in the comments, while another added that Rusty was likely in a “food coma.” A follower wrote, “What a beautiful child. They’re all beautiful when they’re sleeping. Lol,” while several other fans complimented her son’s red hair.
Rusty is the youngest child Dylan shares with her husband, Brian Fichera. The couple married in 2012 after meeting while working at NBC’s Boston, Massachusetts, affiliate WHDH TV.
Dylan and Brian, 38, welcomed son Calvin in 2016. She gave birth to their second son, Oliver, in 2020, and Rusty came along in 2021.
Being a boy mom wasn’t so hard at first for Dylan. She shared in a June 2024 Instagram post how her family had managed to go quite a while without any injuries.
Dylan’s photo showed Rusty with a bandage above his eye. She wrote in the caption, “3 boys and this is our first set of stitches! Never would have bet on Rusty to be the first! Then on to making gluten free hamburger rolls after sopping up Calvin’s cut chin with my t-shirt. Boy mom indeed!!”
The New Jersey native opened up in 2022 about whether or not she and Brian were interested in expanding their family beyond their three sons.
“I’m not offended because we’ve asked ourselves that same question. Don’t think Brian and I haven’t had that conversation. But it’s like, hell no, we are so done,” she told TODAY.com.
“I know my luck and there would be a fourth boy!” she added.
Dylan loves sharing updates about her sons with fans via Instagram. She showed off ingredients for a healthy soup hoping that her kids might like it in a February 6 post.
“I mean, I KNOW my kids are not going to eat lentil soup. So why do I bother??? Why am I rushing home between appointments to whip up lentil soup that everyone is going to complain about? Because maybe there’s a CHANCE …” Dylan wrote in the caption before cooking the meal.
She shared a follow-up video that included the verdict about her soup. Ollie let out a resounding “yes” when Dylan asked if he liked it and whether or not it was “a make again soup.” Calvin calmly noted, “It was surprisingly good,” while Rusty laughed with a big smile before finally giving a “yes” in response to if her liked her creation.
“SOUP SUCCESS!!! All 3 liked the lentil soup and ate it all!! Moral: don’t give up … keep trying new things. Actual moral: totally got lucky. Guaranteed they won’t eat the leftovers tomorrow!” Dylan joked in the caption.
