‘Money talks’ admits Chantelle Cameron as Katie Taylor rival speaks out on upcoming trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano

CHANTELLE CAMERON revealed her reaction to Katie Taylor’s trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano being confirmed.

Taylor, 38, will fight Serrano for the third time when they headline an all-female card at Madison Square Garden on July 11.

It represents a blow for Cameron, who is the interim WBC super-lightweight champion.

She beat Taylor in her first fight on home soil at the 3Arena in May 2023, before losing to the Irish woman at the same venue that November.

The Northampton star was eyeing a trilogy of her own against Taylor, who dethroned Cameron as undisputed champion at 140lb.

She will have to wait a while yet and reacted to the news on social media.

Cameron said: “Money talks but I still am the only one to have officially beat Katie at her own homecoming

“They had to take me back again for her to get the W.

“Good to see it’s a women’s card hope they all get paid very well I’m sure they will”

Taylor holds a 2-0 record over Serrano, having beaten her at MSG in April 2022 and AT&T Stadium last November.

While the 2012 Olympic gold medallist was magnanimous in her reaction to the trilogy being announced, the Puerto Rican started the war of words early.

She vowed: “I promised my fans they would see this trilogy, and I’m incredibly grateful that we get to complete our journey where it all began — at Madison Square Garden, live on Netflix for the world to see.

“I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor did not keep her word and make the trilogy 12 three-minute rounds, equal to the men.

“This is a record-setting payday for both of us, and we owed it to the fans to honour the handshake deal we made.

“She didn’t. But make no mistake, every time we share the ring, it is war, and I know Friday, July 11, will be the greatest yet because I will finally get the official W I deserve.

“Headlining an all-female card at MSG, representing both New York and Puerto Rico, is something I never thought would be possible, and it wouldn’t be without Nakisa Bidarian, Jake Paul, and MVP’s commitment to elevating women’s boxing.

“I’m proud to stand alongside all the talented women on this card, and I hope our fight inspires young girls everywhere to keep believing in themselves and never stop chasing their dreams.”

Cameron sided with Serrano concerning the fight not taking place across 12 three-minute rounds.

She added: “Shame Amanda Serrano isn’t getting to fight the 12×3 minute rounds.

“Would have been great for women’s boxing.”
