Kate Hudson Shares Her Kids’ Funny Reaction to Her ‘See-Through’ Gowns on the Red Carpet

Nobody can cut your self-esteem down quite like your kids, so moms have to learn to toughen up. As a mom of three, Kate Hudson understands this deeply — especially when it comes to her fashion choices. The Running Point star recently opened up about how her kids can create “humbling” experiences for her, and it’s something we’ve all been through.

In an interview on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast today, Hudson shared that her kids are “very much clued into the things that [I’m] doing,” per PEOPLE. And this includes her style. “Like, it could be very see-through and they’re like, ‘No, mom, that’s gross. Like, what are you doing?’ You know?” Hudson continued.

Hudson, who is mom to Ryder, 21, with ex Chris Robinson, Bingham, 13, with ex Matt Bellamy, and Rani, 6, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa, has sexy style on the red carpet that we love to salivate over, but it’s understandable why her kids wouldn’t appreciate her looks. I wouldn’t want to see my mom in see-through dresses either!

But it doesn’t end at fashion — Hudson’s children also complain about her makeup. “Or it could be like I’m wearing a dark lip and whatever. It’s just like there’s a lot of focus,” she added. As a mom, I’ve also taken a hit to the self-esteem when my kids comment on my look, so I know exactly what she’s going through.

Elsewhere in the appearance, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star shared that sometimes she “goes too far” in parenting. “I became combative with my 13-year-old … where is that gonna go?” Hudson said, per Page Six. “But it happens all the time as a parent. When you walk away from it, you can recognize where you might’ve created more of a problem than you did a lesson.”

The “Glorious” singer continued, “The importance of being able to tell your kids that you could do better, I could’ve handled that situation better, actually models much more for them than being stubborn and saying, ‘No I can’t admit that I was wrong.’”

“I’ve been doing it for 21 years. It’s like, to admit — you’re gonna make mistakes, you’re gonna be wrong,” she added. “And to share your imperfections with your kids in moments without — to be able to say to your kids, ‘I could have handled that better and I’m sorry because you don’t deserve me to get that angry at you right now.’ … That has been the biggest lesson for me is knowing when to do that.”

Not minding when her kids call out her style and admitting when she is wrong? Kate Hudson is my hero!
