A DOG has been found dead surrounded by rubbish beside a country road.
The animal was discovered in a layby off Cairnmuir Road near East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, on Sunday.

The deceased canine has been identified as a female blue Shar Pei.
The dog is believed to be around six years old.
She was microchipped but no longer belonged to the registered owner.
The dog was not wearing a collar when it was found by a member of the public.
They reported the grim discovery to the SSPCA’s animal helpline.
It is thought that the animal may have been abandoned in the layby.
The SSPCA is appealing to the public for information concerning the dog’s death.
Inspector McCrossan, said: “We were called out to a report of a dead dog who looked like she had potentially been dumped.
“She was a female blue Sharpei dog thought to be around six years old.
“The dog was microchipped but no longer belonged to the registered owner. She was not wearing a collar.
“It is unknown what has happened, so we are asking if anyone has any information surrounding the circumstances of this dog, to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
