Chelsea were frustrated by the stubborn Copenhagen side in the first half as they were unable to break the deadlock.

But the Blues were away quickly in the second half as Reece James powered in a striker from 25 yards in the 46th minute.

Enzo Fernandez gave Chelsea some important breathing room with a composed finish after a mix-up in the Copenhagen defence.

However, the hosts were determined not to fall apart in the first leg as Gabriel Pereira powered in a header in the 80th minute.

Maresca’s side were able to hold on to win in order to take a slim advantage back to West London ahead of the second leg.
