Closer shares five tips and easy tricks to help you get thicker, fuller hair, as told by experts!
Eat Right: “A host of nutritional deficiencies can cause hair loss and hair breakage,” shares Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali, a New York-based dermatologist and founder of Hudson Dermatology and Laser. “[We] look at things like iron levels, vitamin D, thyroid studies, and other medical data points to make sure we don’t miss any internal causes of thinning or weakening hair.” Along with a healthy, balanced diet, hair-growth supplements, such as Nutrafol, could also help.
Stress Less: “Chronic stress or short-term increased stress levels can be a direct cause of hair loss and hair shedding, and the faster the cause of hair loss is addressed, the better the outcome,” says cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Michele Green. Calming practices such as meditation and yoga are good places to start.
Choose a Quality Shampoo: “Your hair and scalp care regimen and the products that you use are the foundation of having healthy hair and, even more so, if you are experiencing hair thinning and hair loss,” says Dr. Craig Ziering, board-certified dermatologist. Try one with ingredients that strengthen, moisturize and balance, such as biotin and caffeine.
Brush Up: “Brushing your hair regularly is key for growing long, thick hair,” shares Sofie Tidemand, a cofounder of Hairlust, a Danish hair care brand. “Brushing helps to distribute the natural oils from your scalp throughout your hair, keeping it hydrated and healthy.”
Cool Down: “If you’re dealing with thinning hair, you do not want to be using excessive heat,” says celebrity hairstylist Ona Diaz-Santin. Too much heat used in drying or styling break bonds in hair strands, making them weak and brittle.
