SNOOKER star Mark Allen has admitted that he does not want to qualify for the upcoming Players Championship – just one year after winning the competition.
The 39-year-old crashed out of the World Grand Prix on Wednesday following a 4-2 defeat to Jimmy Robertson.

Allen took a 2-0 lead at the start of the match but squandered his advantage on the second day of the tournament.
Following his defeat, he took to social media to admit that his “confidence is on the floor” amid his ongoing struggles.
The Pistol took to X to write: “If I could find a safety game, a few long pots and cut out the silly easy losses I’d maybe win a game or two 
confidence is on the floor.
“Roll on next season. Worlds next for me.”
One fan subsequently asked the snooker ace if he is prepared to play in the Players Championship, which kicks off on March 17.
However, he responded with: “I honestly hope I don’t qualify.”
Allen beat Zhang Anda last February to win the Players Championship in Telford.
He was then knocked out of the World Championship in the last-16 two months later following a 13-12 defeat to John Higgins.

This year’s World Snooker Championship kicks off on April 19.
As always, it will be held at the Crucible in Sheffield.
