March 3, 2025 – Seneca Healthcare District employees had the pleasure of participating in
Chester Elementary School’s annual Read Across America Day, held in honor of Dr. Seuss. Each year, Chester Elementary School hosts this special event to celebrate the joy of reading and to encourage literacy among students. This year, Seneca staff members volunteered to read to the TK students, 1st grade students, and 6th grade students. It was a wonderful opportunity for our team to engage with the young minds of our community and share the magic of Dr. Seuss’s stories.
Catie Neely, Infection Prevention Manager, one of the participating staff members, shared her experience: “The 1st grade class was so much fun to work with! Their excitement and eagerness to learn made the experience incredibly enjoyable. It was a pleasure to share the joy of reading with such a wonderful group of students.”
“It was such a joy to read to the first-grade class. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were truly heartwarming. Being able to share the love of reading with them was a wonderful experience.” – Kacie Broussard, Care Coordination Manager. Darrah Culver, TK teacher, praised volunteer Shanna Roelofson, HR Director: “Shanna had the perfect energy for the TK class.”
One of the highlights was reading the book “What Pet Should I Get?” to the 6th grade class. After speculating about what pet the characters in the book ended up selecting, the class was very engaged and asked lots of questions about the hospital, the healthcare system, and the new hospital build project. “They are a bright group of kids and truly a joy to be around,” said Chelssa Outland, Public Information Officer. Seneca Healthcare District is honored to be part of this fun and meaningful activity. We are proud to support Chester Elementary School, its dedicated staff, and teachers in their efforts to inspire and educate the next generation. This is truly a great event to be part of.
