Why Harvey Weinstein Was Forced to Remove His Testicles and How It Became a Big Deal in Court

Harvey Weinstein’s abnormal testicles were a key piece of evidence in the trial against him. It was revealed during the trial that the former Hollywood mogul underwent surgery in 1999 which required him to remove his testicles due to Fournier’s Gangrene. According to reports about the surgery, his testicles were taken from his scrotum and put into his inner thighs.

Various victims in the case testified about his abnormal genitalia. The jury in the trial was shown photos of Weinstein’s private parts in a private room in the courthouse. The victim’s description of his genitalia eventually became crucial in proving that he had engaged in s*xual assault.

Harvey Weinstein had to remove some of his scrotum due to the disease known as Fournier’s Gangrene. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the disease is a rare bacterial infection that affects the genitals and surrounding areas. It is a type of necrotizing fasciitis or flesh-eating disease.

It is a rapidly progressing condition and Weinstein had to undergo surgery immediately in 1999 to remove the affected tissues. It left his genitalia in a distorted shape that proved crucial in the trial against him. The prosecutor in the case, Deputy DA Paul Thompson, told the jury (via Variety):

That surgery caused pretty noticeable scarring … Because of an infection, his testicles were actually taken from his scrotum and put into his inner thighs.

The description of Weinstein’s genitalia became crucial evidence in the trial. Jane Doe #1, who later revealed her identity to be European actress and model Evgeniya Chernyshova (via THR), accused Weinstein of r*pe and s*xual assault. The incident occurred in 2013 when she attended the LA Italia Film Festival as a VIP guest.

The defense claimed that the assault never happened because Weinstein was never in a hotel room with the victim on the night of the incident. The prosecution’s case was built on Chernyshova describing Weinstein’s abnormal genitalia. She claimed in court that she had always told detectives about Weinstein’s abnormal testicles. She shared, “I recall he didn’t have one. It was like empty skin.”

Thompson shared in court, “Jane Doe #1 is able to describe Mr. Weinstein’s anatomy. She can do that because he assaulted her. There’s no other explanation for that.” It wasn’t just Chernyshova who testified on Weinstein’s abnormal genitalia. The other victims, Lauren Young, Jane Doe #3 (a massage therapist), and Siebel Newsom, also described Weinstein’s testicles for the jury.

According to controversial conservative commentator Candace Owens, Harvey Weinstein’s abnormal testicles saved him from egregious charges of first-degree r*pe in other cases. In her wild claims in her YouTube video, she shared that “the list of credible allegations had significantly dwindled” due to his anatomy.

She went on to suggest that the serious charges against Weinstein in the case filed by his former production assistant Mimi Haleyi were dropped due to the inconsistency in describing his genitalia. He was acquitted in the counts of first-degree r*pe and two counts of predatory s*xual assault. However, he was found guilty of s*xually assaulting Haleyi.

It didn’t help his case as Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison for his crimes in New York. However, it should be noted that the more serious charges could’ve put him in jail for life.
