THE days are getting longer and the sun is finally out, which means only one thing – the long and gloomy winter is now over.
And what better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than with ice cream?

The treat is down from 99p to just 6p, saving you a fortune[/caption]
If you’re secret stash in the freezer is running low, you may wish to plan a trip to the local Aldi, where thrifty shoppers have spotted what could very well be the best deal of the year.
One customer, Shan Victoria, revealed that the popular discount retailer is now offering the nation’s favourite treat for spare change – yes, you read that right.
According to Shan, Aldi fans can now get their hands on a four-pack of ice cream for pennies – and you’ll even get some money back from 10p.
Informing fellow bargain hunters, the lucky shopper revealed that the popular German store had slashed the price of the Crumbly Cones ice cream to a mere 6p.
The delicious vanilla treat, which comes with chocolate fingers, usually sells for 99p – meaning you’re making some epic savings.
Shan wrote in her post on Facebook: ”Aldi had these in at 6p.”
The Facebook user, who shared the news on the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, spotted the fabulous find in Peterborough.
‘They are lovely’
Since being shared on the page – home to more than 2.6million members – the post has taken the internet by storm, winning Shan over 80 likes and 30 comments.
As many flooded to tag their pals to let them know about to offer, others shared their success of finding the cut-price treat.
One delighted shopper said: ”I managed to get some too! Shipley West Yorkshire.”
Someone else cried: ”My local has stopped selling them, shame as they are lovely.”
Another chimed in, fearing the ice cream would be discontinued: ”Hope they continue to sell them as they are very nice.”
A fourth thought: ”Most probably changing the pack size from four to three. They used to come in packs of six.”
How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some that we recommend:
- Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
- Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
- Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
- CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

If you’ve planned a trip to Aldi in the upcoming days, don’t forget to check out their booze selection – where the store has added a bizarre flavoured Baileys dupe that Guinness fans will love.
The beverage will land right on time for St Patrick’s Day – hitting shelves on March 6.
Aldi’s Ballycastle Stout Flavour Country Cream is priced at £7.99 a bottle.
It boasts a “luxuriously smooth, creamy texture with prominent malt notes balanced by the subtle sweetness of Irish cream”, the retailer revealed.
As a limited-edition product, it’s only available while stocks last.
The retailer added: “It’s a sophisticated sip that’s perfect for after-dinner indulgence or mixing into a celebratory cocktail.”
Aldi also provides instructions on how to make a Ballycastle Stout Espresso Martini for two on its website.
Simply pour 100ml of boiling water over two heaped teaspoons of Alcafé Gold Roast Freeze Dried Coffee and allow to cool.
Then, fill half of a cocktail shaker with ice.
Proceed by adding the coffee, 150ml of Ballycastle Stout Flavour Country Cream and 100ml of Saint Germont Premium French Vanilla Vodka to the shaker.
After a good shake, strain into two large chilled martini glasses.
Then allow it to settle and decorate with a couple of coffee beans.
