Bringing back several beloved characters from the original Netflix show, Daredevil: Born Again has kept fans on the edge. However, the show’s producer, Dario Scardapane, has assured fans that it will not disappoint, especially with the highly anticipated return of the Punisher.
Talking about the Marvel character, Scardapane emphasized that, unlike other characters who have evolved over time, the Punisher remains driven by “grief and revenge,” making him an even more compelling addition to the series.
He shared in a recent interview with Brandon Davis,
The Punisher, like we were saying, all of these characters have moved along and grown up and evolved, and then there’s Frank. Okay, he just lives in a state of grief and revenge. Yeah, he lives in an extremely special place, which is a joy to behold.
Having previously worked on The Punisher series, Scardapane expressed his excitement about reuniting with Jon Bernthal for this project. “Getting a chance to work with Jon again was pure gravy in this whole thing. It was so much fun,” he said.
“And Charlie and Jon know each other, they’re good friends, they work great together,” he added, suggesting that their on-screen dynamic would heighten the intensity of the story, making it far more thrilling than fans could have imagined.

Further discussing the Punisher’s return, the Daredevil: Born Again producer shared that it will be epic and action-packed, exceeding fans’ expectations, especially with a potential clash between Daredevil and the Punisher.
“But in this particular story… Frank comes back for a very specific reason, and then he comes back at the behest of a very specific person,” he said, suggesting that Castle’s return will play a pivotal role in the series.
And Dario Scardapane also shared that his return would set the stage for a complicated alliance and intense conflict with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil due to the philosophical divide between the two characters.
And then I could say this much: as always, when you finally get those two, Matt and Frank, together, there is a difference in philosophy that plays out in action.
Reflecting on the creative process, the creator described bringing these moments to life as an incredible experience, saying, “You’re gonna get something way beyond your wildest dreams.”
While recent previews have offered only a brief glimpse of Jon Bernthal’s return as the Punisher, the exact details surrounding his comeback remain under wraps.
However, despite concerns about how Marvel Studios’ involvement could impact the series, Scardapane’s remarks suggest that the gritty, intense essence of the character will remain intact, making his return one of the show’s most anticipated elements.
