Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, firmly responded to an interruption from a Minority MP during discussions on the case involving Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.
Bagbin, who appeared displeased with the interjection, reminded the MP that parliamentary proceedings follow due process and that he was handling the matter appropriately.
“Your Minority spoke; I have given him enough time to speak, and he is still speaking. He knows how close he is to me, and he knows I will not ignore the issue I took upon myself. And he has mentioned that I have invited the lady concerned. It is not that I will not invite him. It is a process, and he knows what has intervened up to now, if not, I would have finished doing that by now,” Bagbin stated.
He went further to emphasise his authority in the House, making it clear that roles and responsibilities differ among members.
“So please don’t think we are all the same. We are not, that’s why I am here, and that’s why you are seated there,” he added.
The Speaker’s remarks came amid deliberations on the case involving Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle.
