AT one time, shots were only of the alcoholic variety but now health shots are big business.
There are hundreds out there which promise everything from boosted immunity to clear, glowing skin.
They are so common you can now pick them up in supermarkets and Sainsbury’s has even launched an affordable collagen shot. I’ve tried three . . .
IMMUNITY SHOT

This Ginger Immunity Shot from Plenish tasted incredibly hot and strong[/caption]
I LOVED this small but mighty Ginger Immunity Shot from Plenish.
It tasted incredibly hot and strong, with a spicy ginger kick.
For it to work its magic on your immune system you must brave the burning sensation in your throat for a few seconds, but I didn’t find it unpleasant.
Each 60ml shot has 15g raw ginger, apple, lemon and apple cider vinegar, plus your total recommended daily dose of Vitamin C.
There are 20.4 calories and 4.8g sugar from the fruit, but no added sugar, additives or preservatives.
One shot is £2 at ocado.com or a 12-pack is £18 at plenishdrinks.com.
COLLAGEN SHOT

The Collagen Raw Shot is a delicious little shot made of cold-pressed juices[/caption]
A DELICIOUS little shot made of cold-pressed juices. It is mostly watermelon (59 per cent), which is great, as many shots use apple as the main base, and it is higher in sugar.
The Collagen Raw Shot also contains beetroot, pomegranate, raspberry, ginger, pasteurised lemon juice and apple juice.
It provides your total daily recommended intake of vitamin C and zinc, which are both good for immunity, and 1,000mg of bovine collagen, which is derived from cows, and is great for helping with joint, skin, and gut health.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the 60ml shot contains only 16 calories and 1.6g sugar, and I loved the taste.
It’s handy that you can add it to your grocery shopping, and it’s good value at £1.50 for a 60ml shot at sainsburys.co.uk.
SUPERFOOD SHOT

The Rebel Kitchen Camu Immunity + Energy Support shot can help immunity[/caption]
THE Rebel Kitchen Camu Immunity + Energy Support shot is made from freshly frozen camu camu berries – which contain 30 times more vitamin C per ml than an orange.
It is thought they can help immunity, reduce fatigue and boost energy.
Until now, the Amazonian berries have only been found in powder form but this tastes lovely and I enjoyed them as part of my morning routine.
The shot is high in B12 and has 351mg of vitamin C (more than four times the recommended daily allowance).
It also contains water, apple juice, raspberry juice and lemon juice with around just 13 calories and 2.5g of sugar per dose.
Currently on offer for £1 at waitrose.com but they will go up to £2 later this week so stock up if you like them.
