‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Will Fail to Top Pedro Pascal’s Most Disturbing ‘Game of Thrones’ Scene Despite His Gruesome Fate

Pedro Pascal has delivered some truly unsettling TV moments, but The Last of Us season 2 won’t top his most disturbing scene. Long before he took on the role of Joel, Pascal had already left audiences horrified in Game of Thrones with a moment so shocking, it’s still talked about today.

While The Last of Us isn’t shying away from brutality, some TV scenes are just impossible to outdo. No matter how intense season 2 gets, Pascal’s past work set a disturbingly high bar – one that even post-apocalyptic horrors might not be able to surpass.

Joel’s death in The Last of Us Part II is one of the most controversial moments, and the show is under immense pressure to get it right. The execution is swift and shocking – Abby, seeking revenge for her father’s murder, mercilessly beats Joel to death with a golf club while Ellie is forced to watch.

It’s a gut-wrenching moment designed to make the audience feel Ellie’s grief and rage, setting the entire story’s revenge cycle into motion.

The show has already hinted at how this will play out, and Pedro Pascal has addressed the inevitability of his character’s fate. He’s acknowledged the emotional weight of Joel’s story and expressed trust in the showrunners to handle it properly.

Given his talent for portraying raw emotion, his version of Joel’s death is bound to be devastating – but will it be as horrifyingly memorable as his Game of Thrones sendoff?

Pascal’s turn as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones Season 4 was short but unforgettable. His character, seeking vengeance for his sister’s murder, volunteers as Tyrion Lannister’s champion in a trial by combat against Ser Gregor Clegane, a.k.a. The Mountain.

Oberyn dominates the fight with his speed and skill, but his arrogance becomes his downfall. Instead of finishing The Mountain off, he demands a confession. That hesitation gives the massive warrior just enough time to grab Oberyn, crush his skull with his bare hands, and leave a traumatized audience in his wake.

Oberyn’s death is not just gruesome; it’s one of the most disturbing moments in Game of Thrones. The combination of the shocking brutality, the slow realization of his fate, and Pascal’s visceral performance makes it unforgettable.

Why Oberyn’s death will be hard to top, though? You see, while Joel’s death in The Last of Us is narratively crucial, it’s more of a setup for Ellie’s arc than a moment designed to haunt the audience forever. It’s brutal, yes, but it lacks the shock factor of Oberyn’s demise.

Oberyn’s fight was a spectacle – an intense, high-stakes battle that seemed like it was going in his favor until it suddenly wasn’t. With Joel’s death, viewers will likely know it’s coming, dampening some of the shock value. The Last of Us will deliver heartbreak, but Game of Thrones delivered pure, unfiltered horror.

Pedro Pascal shuts down anti-trans trolls with the most savage comebacks

Pedro Pascal does not have time for anti-trans nonsense.

The Last of Us star dropped a powerful pro-trans message on Instagram, and while plenty of fans cheered him on, the usual trolls crawled out of the woodwork. But instead of ignoring them, Pascal did what he does best — clapped back with pure, unbothered energy.

As per The Blast, when one follower tried the classic “I’m unfollowing” move, Pascal hit them with peak sarcasm. Another whined about being disappointed, and he basically shrugged them off without a second thought. The man did not miss.

This isn’t new for him. He’s always been vocal about LGBTQ+ rights, especially after his sister, Lux, came out as transgender in 2021. Haters can cry all they want — Pascal’s not losing sleep over it.

If anything, he just gave the internet another reason to love him.
