Prince William speaks Welsh in video to mark St David’s Day after visiting country with Kate

PRINCE William has spoken Welsh in a video to mark St David’s Day after visiting the country with Princess Kate.

The Prince of Wales, 42, posted the clip to the official Instagram account he shares with his wife today.

In it, he says, speaking Welsh: “Hello, on St David’s Day we come together to celebrate Wales – its history, its culture, its incredible people.

“From its incredible landscapes to its language Wales continues to inspire.

“Today we will celebrate everything magical about Wales.

“To all the people of Wales and everybody around the world – happy St David’s Day.”

William is seen in the clip wearing a daffodil – the national flower of Wales – while footage of his and Kate’s visit to Pontypridd also features.

‘FLIRT FEST’

The usually stoic couple were uncharacteristically affectionate in what body language expert Judi James described as a “flirt fest”.

During the trip, the pair were caught sharing a cheeky joke, as they baked cakes at the Welsh Cake Shop.

“The chemistry isn’t just loving it is also sexual. All the lingering touches and glances suggest flirting and sexual appreciation as well as fondness,” said Ms James.

She went onto say: “In front of the cameras here they appear besotted and putting more effort into their flirting than into making those Welsh cakes.”

The body language expert said they both displayed the “look of love”, with William’s face showing a “smitten, bashful kind of affection.”

Arriving at Tshop – which is well known for its Bara Brith, a traditional Welsh fruit bread – Wills joked: “How dirty can you be? Flour everywhere?”

The couple then proceeded to giggle as they donned matching aprons while making traditional Welsh Cakes at the Pontypridd shop – which has served tasty snacks to locals for more than 25 years.

Kate, 43, meanwhile, has been turning up for more public appearances as part of her “gradual” return to work after cancer.

It was the couple’s first major ‘away day’ of the year for Kate’s “gradual” return to duty – and their first joint trip to Wales since October 2023.

Kate’s appearance follows a Palace announcement regarding the royal’s “gradual” return to public duties from the New Year.

She has since made a number of appearances including meeting Holocaust survivors at an emotional memorial event, and visiting Tŷ Hafan’s hospice near Cardiff, where she spent time with children, families and staff.

It is also understood tours abroad are “not on the table”, despite Prince William last year saying they might “have some more trips lined up”.

Instead, Kate’s “primary focus” will be her Centre for Early Childhood and UK-based engagements.

The Princess of Wales will also support the Royal Family at events such as Buckingham Palace Garden Parties, Trooping the Colour, Royal Ascot and the Remembrance Day commemorations.
