Broly is an enigmatic character who has been seen as the epitome of the Saiyan race. He is the LSSJ (Legendary Super Saiyan) who was born once in a millennium. The character itself was created by Takao Koyama and designed by Toriyama himself.
It took a long time for Broly to enter the franchise as a canon character, but his true potential has not been fully used. As can be seen from the Z fighters, be it Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, or Gohan, they have repeatedly proved that the Saiyan race is not as simple as it previously seemed.
The Saiyans might have been under the command of Frieza, but their endless growth potential deserved a much higher position. With Broly becoming canon, if he enters the scene, considering that Goku and Vegeta have reached Ultra forms through training (Goku reached SSJ4 in Dragon Ball DAIMA), Broly’s potential as the LSSJ might make him a hegemonic warrior.
The endless potential of the Legendary Super Saiyan
Broly has always been a force to be reckoned with in the Dragon Ball universe, with his pure and uncontainable power and primal instincts, Broly shines as the representation of the battle-loving Saiyan race. Unlike Goku and Vegeta, who have become civilized and human, Broly is more like an unpredictable beast.
Goku and the other Saiyans have had to refine their techniques through discipline and practice; for instance, the Super Saiyan mode can only be unlocked through a lot of training. But Broly’s strength is completely and fundamentally different as it comes from his raw battle instincts.
His Legendary Super Saiyan form (it is his base form, and we do not know if it can power scale like the normal Super Saiyan form) already helps him fight in an overbearing and optimum manner.
But what if the LSSJ merged with the Ultra Instinct? The result could be a monstrous transformation that blends the best of both worlds, not just the overbearing rage and power but also divine reflexes.
Could Broly truly surpass the Gods?
This might seem hard, seeing as Broly has not been through as much as Goku and Vegeta have, and it might be difficult for him to unlock the Ultra powers. Goku learned from the Angels and Vegeta from a God of Destruction, either way, this proves that with dedication (maybe the Saiyan makeup), Broly could succeed as well.
This theoretical form would be the Legendary Ultra Instinct Broly and could be the most unpredictable and destructive power-up in the Dragon Ball franchise. We do know that the Gods and Angels are the highest tier of power scaling in the Dragon Ball universe.
Both Goku and Vegeta have the power to face Gods if they master their Ultra Transformations, and Broly can only be ahead and not behind them in terms of potential. Considering the entire Saiyan race, he is the ‘chosen one,’ even more so compared to Vegeta, who is of pure royal lineage.
If Broly achieved this form, he could break past even Ultra Instinct’s limits. We could see the true potential of the Saiyan race, even if it means the main characters being overshadowed. It might not be likely, but Broly has a higher potential than even Gohan in the Dragon Ball franchise.
