Padley took the fight on the stacked Bivol vs Beterbiev undercard at just four days notice.

He flew out to Saudi Arabia to replace Floyd Schofield after the challenger fell ill through alleged poisoning.

The 29-year-old went toe-to-toe with power puncher Stevenson, before his corner eventually threw in the towel.

The Yorkshireman’s heart and granite chin was praised by fight fans around the world.

And now he’s bagged a lucrative pro contract with Eddie Hearn’s stable.

A statement from Matchroom read: “After stepping up to face P4P star Shakur Stevenson on three days notice, Josh Padley now signs with Matchroom Boxing.

“The good times keep coming.”

SunSport understands the contract is a six-figure, multi-fight deal.

It comes after Padley bagged a massive payday for taking on the Stevenson fight.

Padley earned almost £400,000 for one night’s work in Riyadh.

And he is now ready to pack in his day-job as a sparky to dedicate his life to boxing.

The 15-1 lightweight said: “The dream has finally come true.

“I’m looking forward to hanging the work boots up and fully dedicating my life to boxing.

“I can’t wait for the huge nights ahead with the Matchroom team.

“The best Josh Padley is yet to come. I’m going to give this sport everything that I have now. It’s only a short career you get in boxing.

“It almost feels like I didn’t lose the fight with Shakur because everyone has got behind me so much.

“That was four days’ notice. I know I’ll be better next time I get my world-title shot.”
